In Avon’s Campaign 13, The Anew Vitamin C serum, eye cream, and moisturizer is front and center – just in time for summer. It got me thinking, though. Why Vitamin C? So I did a little digging and came across a brief web article at “healthline.com.” What I appreciated about this article was that it cited sources. The sources were from the NCBI, or the National Center for Biotechnical Information, which is part of the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Medicine (NIM) and the National Library of Medicine. One article, in particular, was from 2017, making it relevant.
So, what do these experts say about Vitamin C in skin care? First of all, the benefits are pretty nifty. It can also protect from sun damage, lighted skin pigmentation like dark spots, brighten the skin through hydration, relieve tired skin making the face feel and look rested, can sooth redness and irritation, and help heal surface trauma, like dryness, chapping, etc. That’s all pretty awesome!’
With that in mind, it makes sense that if you want to reduce fine lines, pigmentation issues, redness, and irritation, Vitamin C is a great choice – and it’s a bit more natural than other products on the market.
How do you use serums, anyway? So, the order is this: the runnier the product, the earlier it is applied. In other words, a serum, which is thin, and generally more liquid- consistency, would go on first, followed by creams, in order of their thickness.
So, serum, lotion, cream.
In the morning, washing your face to remove last nights stuff. Tone the skin to prep it. Then, apply Vitamin C serum, moisturizers, primers, and then foundation. At night, make up remover, cleanser, toner, serum, lotions, and then creams.
